Lake Improvement Board of Bear Lake
July 17th, 2008 Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order by Jack Sawka at 7:00pm. Board members present Edwards, Sawka, Yates, and Brisbin. Board members absent O'Shea and Berentson. Dave Warner from ASI along with 6 other guests.
Jack Sawka opened up meeting for public comment. Jerry Stick-2,4D dangerous as stated in article on Internet. 2,4D not used close to shore. Trichlopyr used close to shore.
Minutes of June 19, 2008 meeting were read and approved. Minutes of April and May meetings were approved.
Lake treatment:1st treatment June 12th, 2008, 155 acres. Discussion with Board and guests about treatment. Lake treated again on July16th, 2008 for the additional acres not treated on June 12th, 2008. Signage was discussed. Even with signage children and adults were in the lake. Jennifer does not expect to treat the lake again this year. She will do an AVAS study and grid matrix when she comes back in Late Aug. or Sept. Weevils will not be stocked this year. Also some funds were left over, we didn't use all the money that was available.
Note: Website (google), Carol Lembi, is very good for information the chemicals used to treat lakes.

Motion by Brisbin, 2nd by Edwards to pay bills, carried unanimously.
Boat Launch Sites:Clean Boats, Clean Waters Program discussed. Need someone to take program over and run it. Still no volunteers.
Hydrilla pamphlet was shown and discussed.
Next Meeting: August 21, 2008, 7:00pm, Manistee County Road Commission Bldg.
Other Business:Round Lake Problem with Milfoil discussed. Almost totally choked off.
