Village of Bear Lake
July 13, 2005
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by
President Glen Moore at 7:40 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe,
Don Hyrns, Ron Ronning, Carol Urbanus and Glen Moore.
Absent: Vern Best and Michelle Mortenson
Guests: Don Fredrickson, Alfred and Jacqueline Johnson, Jim and Polly
Ludwig, Joanne Schroeder and Bernie Ware.
Minutes: The June minutes were approved as present with corrections.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to accept the
Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried.

Local Street Fund 14,702.57
Major Street Fund 38,915.24
Park Fund 50,460.41
Water Fund 80,204.17
Bills: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to pay the bills as presented. Motion
carried.
Guests: Mr. Johnson requested the location for the Village of Bear Lake
water samples.
Jim and Polly Ludwig expressed their displeasure with the loud noise coming
from a truck and race car near their home. No action was taken at this time.
They also wished to have the snow removed from the downtown sidewalks more
frequently to insure clear passage.
Mrs. Schroeder and Mr. Fredrickson would like to put up signs pointing to
Hopkins Park at the steps going down to the campground.
Mr. Ware requested the names of one or two people from the Village who were
willing to sit on the Multi-Jurisdictional Planning Unit. Robert Howe agreed
to represent the Village's interest.
Correspondence: Received a Thank You note from the AA and Alanon group for
use of the park shelter.
Campground: Motion by Ron seconded by Carol to allow the Benzie County Band
to play at Hopkins Park on August 17th. Motion carried.
Lights: Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to have Joel Fink from Galaxy
Electric affix a new light to shine upon "The Bear". Motion carried.
Trees: Motion by Don seconded by Ricke to have Thompson's Tree Removal take
down the dead limbs on Main Street for $100.00. Motion carried.
Water: Motion by Robert seconded by Carol to send a postcard to all
Village residents reminding them of the sprinkling hours and the fact that
their water could be turned off followed with a large turn-on fee if the
violation continues. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On:
- Hired John Ledford to replace Christa as Howard's summer help.
- The flags ordered last month were received.
- The Village will send businesses letters regarding their responsibility
for snow removal.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 .m.
