REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
December 17, 2008
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Don Hyrns, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson, Donna Ronning, Ron Ronning and George Schafer.
Absent: Alice Howe and Jim Mlejnek
Guests: None
Minutes: The November minutes were approved as presented.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to accept the Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried. Building Fund 6,094.64 Equipment Fund 10,513.31 General Fund 33,481.68 Minor Street Fund 24,647.69 Major Street Fund 35,864.66 Park Fund 29,816.05 Water Fund 29,179.56 CD - Honor Bank $26,343.23 CD - Honor Bank $30,643.23 Huntington Bank $78,992.93
Motion by Ron seconded by George to amend the budget. Raise line item election in General Fund from $800.00 to $905.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Larry seconded by Carver to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Ron seconded by Don to search for Christmas decorations and replace the ones that are in need of repair. Motion carried.
Motion by Larry seconded by Don to approve new park rules & regulations. Motion carried.
Motion by Carver seconded by Ron to approve water rules & regulations. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On: - Mailboxes & posts that run along Village streets will be evaluated and residents will be sent letters if they need to be moved off the edge of the street. - A request for a sign was received by Bear Lake Marine. Size and placemat was discussed with followup questions to be asked of Michigan Logos. No other action taken at this time. - Received recommendations for upgrades and repairs concerning the water tower. Repairs will need to be made within 3-5 years. Water superintendent McBride will check on a few alternatives. - Boat Launch upgrade paperwork is progressing. Waiting for approval from Wade-Trim. - The new Sidewalk Ordinance was discussed with approval to be taken at next month's meeting. - A cover letter along with numerous letters from community members and visitors will be sent to the Lansing Bureau of Construction Codes, Michelle McManus and Dan Scripps regarding the buildings along Lake street. - George gave an update on the Jt. Planning Committee's Comprehensive Plan and the next steps that will be taken. The council will review the plan at next months meeting.
