REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
October, 2008

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present:  Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Alice Howe, Glen Moore, Jim Mlejnek, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning.

Absent:   Don Hyrns, Donna Ronning and George Schafer

Guests:   Rick and Barb Farfsing, Don Raiff, Carol Urbanus.

Minutes:  The September minutes were approved as presented. 

Treasurer's Report:  Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to accept the Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried.          Building Fund    6,087.84 Equipment Fund   10,503.43 General Fund  41,028.05 Minor Street Fund  23,967.64 Major Street Fund  32,805.11 Park Fund  35,424.94 Water Fund  22,744.77 CD - Honor Bank  $26,343.23 CD - Honor Bank  $30,643.23 Huntington Bank  $78,848.76

Motion by  Carver seconded by Larry to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.

Motion by  Carver seconded by Jim to have Carol Urbanus prune various trees in the Village. Motion carried. The Council wishes to thank Carol for volunteering her time.

Motion by  Ron seconded by Larry to send a letter to the Manistee County Health Department regarding a home littered with debris and rubbish. Motion carried.

Discussions Held On:  - Rick Farfsing supplied the Village with a general accounting of money spent thus far on the Village Park and "Bear" land improvements. - Questions about the recent water tank inspection were addressed with the results being published in the Village minutes when available. - Various changes were made to the Village Hall in accordance with the recent recommendations from the Michigan Municipal League. - The clerk will contact the Lansing Building Code office to check on the status of a downtown building inspection. - Treat or treating hours are 5:00-8:00 pm on Oct. 31.
